Why do honours?

Completing an honours project allows you to demonstrate to potential employers that you are:

  • a high achiever
  • committed to realising your goals
  • able to take responsibility for a project
  • work to a high standard.

It is also a necessary step to postgraduate research.

Honours is a final, research intensive year of study that provides the development of skills necessary to work effectively in a scientific career.

To be eligible, you must have completed a Bachelor of Science degree and obtained at least 65% in your science major.

Applying for honours

Current and previously enrolled UWA student apply for honours online through Student Connect.

Students who have not been previously enrolled at UWA must apply through the Admissions office.

All science honours courses have some common introductory units which will prepare the student to conduct their research:

Scholarships

The School of Plant Biology is involved in the administration of several honours scholarships, which are outlined in the document below.  There are also scholarships available through the Scholarships office.
