Student conducting research on grape vinesYou can undertake a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in any area of plant biology.

A PhD is a program of independent, supervised research assessed solely on the basis of a thesis that is examined externally.

A doctoral thesis must be a substantial and original contribution to knowledge of the subject with which it deals.

Benefits

The School offers many benefits to postgraduate researchers, such as:

  • the annual Rottnest Island Postgraduate Workshop, fully funded by the School
  • $1500 towards the purchase of a personal computer
  • $500 towards travel to a conference
  • up to $2500 in operational costs for those students whose projects do not have substantial external support
