Shenton Park Field Station


Plants growing at the field stationThe University Field Station, located only 15 minutes from campus, covers 67 hectares and has a wide variety of facilities for various areas of study.

For plant biologists, there are large open irrigated field areas, netted areas, screen houses, glasshouses, PC2 facilities and quarantine facilities. There are a number of laboartories carrying out plant breeding work, turf research and general plant research.

For animal biologists, the field station has Australia's largest recirculating aquaculture facility, with a total volume of 3 million litres. There are also animal enclosures, paddocks and a sheep milking sheep.

There is a wide variety of trials and research being carried out at the field station at any one time.
